Schiaparelli Pink Day Schiaparelli label

Sunday 23rd August

Pink was the favourite colour of Frances Farquharson, first wife of the 16th laird of Invercauld and one of Deeside's first fashionistas, credited with 'bringing style to the Highlands'. Mrs Farquharson was fashion editor for Vogue magazine and was friends with the surrealist Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli. Schiaparelli worked closely with Salvador Dali, her great rival Coco Chanel called her 'that artist who makes clothes'. Schiaparelli created the colour 'shocking pink' and this colour can be seen all over the castle, from bathrooms, to curtains and ceilings. Dive into the castle's dressing up box, listen to some vintage 40s music and get in fashion!
