Raising the Standard: Join Us for the 2026 Heritage Fayre!
The wait is almost over. As the snow clears from the peaks of the Cairngorms and the village of Braemar begins to hum with springtime energy, we are thrilled to officially welcome you back for the 2026 season at Braemar Castle.
This year feels particularly special. Following our extensive "Raising the Standard" conservation project, the Castle has never looked better, and our team of dedicated volunteers has been working tirelessly to ensure the 2026 visitor experience is our most immersive yet. Whether you are a local regular or a first-time traveler to the Highlands, there is a tangible magic in the air this May.
Save the Date: Sunday, 24th May
To kick the season into high gear, we are hosting our annual Heritage Fayre on Sunday, 24th May, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Fayre is a true celebration of the community spirit that keeps these historic walls standing. It’s a day where history leaps out of the textbooks and onto the Castle grounds. Here is a taste of what we have planned:
What’s New for 2026?
Beyond the Fayre, the 2026 season brings a renewed focus on sharing the "hidden" stories of the Castle. With our new leadership team and refreshed exhibits, we’re diving deeper into the lives of the people who lived, worked, and fought here.
Opening Hours for May:
Starting this month, the Castle is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (last entry at 4:30 pm). Our grounds remain open 7 days a week for those who simply wish to soak in the views of the Dee.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Braemar Castle is more than just a 17th-century fortress; it is a community-run treasure. Every ticket purchased and every visitor who walks through our doors helps us safeguard this landmark for future generations.
See you at the gates!
