Volunteers are the Heart of our Castle
At Braemar Castle, our volunteers are more than helpers, they are the lifeblood of everything we do.
As a community-run castle, kept alive by the people of Braemar, volunteers are at the very heart of our story. When the castle was brought back into local hands, it was the dedication, passion and pride of our volunteers that has helped shape the castle into what it is today, a piece of living history.
Our volunteers bring the castle’s story to life. From clan stronghold to Jacobite uprisings and a high society retreat, they guide visitors through Braemar Castle’s rich and turbulent past, leading them on a journey through interactive exhibits, authentic interiors and fascinating displays.
Many of our volunteers are local to the area and have a deep knowledge of the castle’s history, sharing interesting insights, memorable stories and personal perspectives with warmth and authenticity. From welcoming visitors and supporting events to helping with conservation, or working behind the scenes, every volunteer plays a part in caring for the castle and carrying its story forward.
